Good Riddance

背景

樂隊主唱兼吉他手Billie Joe在1990年的時候就寫下了《Good Riddance》，但直到1993年樂隊錄製《Dookie》的時候才公布給另外兩位成員。由於這首歌與《Dookie》中的其他歌曲的風格相去甚遠，製作人Rob Cavallo對於這首歌的框架舉棋不定。直到錄製《Nimrod》的時候，也就是1996年，Billie才決定開始錄製此曲，Cavallo也建議在歌曲中增加弦樂這一部分。相比Green Day以往的作品，柔和而發人深思的歌詞，以及原聲樂器伴奏，使得《Good Riddance》更顯得風格迥異。貝斯手Mike Dirnt說：”這首歌的發行應該是我們做過的最‘朋克’的事情了。”
