劇情介紹
Krit is openly gay, his oldest and deepest friend, Win is questioning. They have grown up together. They are as close as two boys can be. The fact that one is gay means nothing to the the other. As they have grown older, getting ready to separate for college, their love is coming to a test. Is it more than that of friends or is it something deeper? Krit has fallen deeply in love with Win. He keeps a book of pressed flowers, a book of memories of the moments that they have shared. When the two finally explore their passion, what will be the result?
Originally made as a college graduate film, Down the River is a daring exploration of friendship and intimacy seldom seen from Thailand. Shot it in the countryside, forests and temples of an ancient land the film is beautiful and sweeping more tone poem than film. We can only hope that more will come from a film maker of this talent.
CBM(Cyberfish Media Co.Ltd) is the promoter and distributor of Down The River, a unique story that combines elements of Buddhism with gay love. Down The River was screened at the 2005 World Film Festival in Bangkok.
Stunning in its simplicity and elegance and shot in the ancient forest and Temples of Thailand, Down the River tells the story of two men struggling with their love for each other.
Elegantly composed, dreamlike and ethereal, Down the River is a stunning little treat from Thailand. Infused with Buddhist theology, the film tells the story of two best friends Krit and Win. Krit wants their relationship to be more, but Win wants a wife and children. Win’s brain can’t embrace his homosexual side as Krit has. Krit goes to gay bars, Win hangs out with the straight people, but all these two men have on their minds is each other. Krit and Win love to hike in the woods, and Krit keeps a book where he presses flowers as memories of their walks. With scenes juxtaposed in a non-linear fashion the story, as it is, is of a hike Win and Krit take with two women. Krit wants this to be an “intimate moment” with Win, but Win is still scared. When they do kiss and make love it’s as sweet any lovemaking scene we’ve seen. With scenes of Buddhist prayer shot in an ancient Thai Temple, there’s a feeling that God is watching over these two young men in love. Shot in the forests, fields and Temples of the ancient country of Thailand, Down the River is a gay cinematic treat.
