Donots樂隊1993年由Ingo, Guido, Jan-Dirk, Stone, and Jens Trippner五人組成。取名實意為一種糕點，代表樂隊無所事事什麼也不做的哲學觀。1994年4月16日，Donots在家鄉伊本比倫的一個倉庫中慶祝首次登台。早年，他們和許多其他樂隊一起做演唱會，例如 Blink-182, Propagandhi, No Fun at All and No Use for a Name。
1996年出了首張名為《Pedigree Punk》的專輯。樂隊在1998年以在國內建立起的名聲與BMG德國子公司Gun Records簽約。在1998年春發表了他們的第二張專輯《Tonight's Karaoke Contest Winners》。同時，他們和Samiam樂隊進行了第一次巡演。1999年，他們的第三張專輯《Better Days Not Included》由索尼BMGSupersonic Records發行。
突破性進展是在2001年的專輯《Pocketrock》的主打曲"Whatever Happened to the 80s"的發行。在2001年秋他們和引領德奧瑞的美國樂隊Midtown共同巡演。一年後由Burning Heart Records發行的《Pocketrock》專輯紅遍歐洲。
Donots在2002年7月17發行了他們的第四張專輯《Amplify the Good Times》。2002年末Donots和瑞典樂隊Millencolin進行了歐洲巡演，同時在德奧瑞意西法進行他們自己的Amplify The Good 巡演。在2003年《Amplify The Good times》在日本大獲成功，當年也進行了一次日本巡演。和Anti-Flag樂隊共同為反對伊拉克戰爭錄製政治傾向歌曲"You've Been to Our Shows, You've Sung Our Songs, Now Go to a Fucking Protest!"發表在網路上。2004年8月，作為第一個歐洲樂隊，Donots在 Fat Wreck Chords上發表"Time's Up"聲援《Rock Against Bush Vol 2》。
2006年11月14，編輯唱片集The Story So Far – Ibbtown Chronicles出版，其中包括所有單曲，B面歌曲和兩首新歌"Duck and Cover" "Play Dead"。自此，也結束了和GUN Records的協定，Donots成為了獨立樂隊。"Over time we fought each other more and more, rather than looking for solutions together. We simply did not understand each other anymore. The last record was actually just damage control. Even during promotional activities, we were absolutely not on the same wavelength. 2008年3月28，他們以自己的名義 Solitary Man Records出了名為《Coma Chameleon》的專輯。單曲"Stop the Clocks"被提名“1 Live Krone”獎。2009年9月22，在英國發行EP《To Hell with Love》。
2010年3月12日，第八張專輯《The Long Way Home》的第一首單曲"Calling"發行。2010年3月26日這張專輯的限量版和正常版都以Solitary Man Records標在德國發行。在2010年3月28，他們發行第二首單曲"Forever Ends Today"。五月六月七月，他們受綠日樂隊邀請在the Green Day Tour 2010德國巡演中同台。《Coma Chameleon》中歌曲的特殊版本在專輯《The Long Way Home》中於2010年9月21在英國由Lockjaw Records發行，在2010年11月23由OK!Good Records在美國發行。
