Deja-vu現象，原文為法語déjà vu，中文翻譯為“既視感”，簡單而言就是“似曾相識”，未曾經歷過的事情或場景仿佛在某時某地經歷過的似曾相識之感。

可是現代科學裡解釋這一現象成因的理論卻遠未讓人滿意。根據問卷調查顯示，三分之二的成年人都至少有過一次“似曾相識”的經歷。而且越有想像力的人越可能經歷奇特的感受；經常在外旅行的人比長時間留在家的人更容易經歷“似曾相識”；另外，受過高等教育的人也比其他人更多經歷這種感覺（也許這是因為他們在托爾斯泰或哪位文學巨匠的著作中經歷過獨特的感受）。調查還顯示，“似曾相識”的發生率在青年時期最高，此後隨著年齡的增長而逐漸降低。特別是當人們真正開始重複日復一日的單調生活時，它的發生率反倒降低了。一個世紀以前，當弗洛伊德理論還是領導心理學研究的主流時，分析家就把“似曾相識”解釋成潛意識矛盾衝突的體現。但是現在心理學家提出，“似曾相識”不一定發生在深層次潛意識矛盾衝突基礎之上。一般健康的大腦都會產生這種感覺。而且，人們在疲憊和壓力狀態下時很容易出現這種感覺。此外，它還可能會與“jamaisvu”相伴出現，即見到熟悉的事物或文字時卻一時間什麼都回憶不起來的感覺。心理學家還指出，“似曾相識”感的出現可能是因為人們接受到了太多的信息而沒有注意到信息的來源。熟悉感會來源於各種渠道，有些真實，有些卻是虛幻的。當你遇到已經忘記的小說描寫的情形時，可能會把它當作自己前世的記憶。或者，當身處了曾經看過電影的真實場景時，雖然表面上已經完全忘記了這部電影，但腦子裡還是會勾起驚心動魄的回憶。心理學家還指出，人們有時根本不需要真實的記憶，大腦內部就有可能自己製造一種熟悉的感覺。
剔除先入為主的所謂科學觀，還有以下諸種解釋：
虛構情景
人的大腦時刻在虛構各種情景，主要是潛意識活動，當你遇到現實中近似的情景時，就會與你記憶中以前大腦虛構的情景相呼應，加上心理強化的作用，你就會有似曾相識的感覺。因為人在睡眠中，大腦仍在對現實中的一些參數運算，得到許多種結果。似曾相識的情景是大腦運算的結果之一。
潛意識
研究人員認為這可能是某個印象早已潛藏在做夢者的潛意識裡，然後偶然再在夢裡顯現出來，也有些研究指出這種現象和另一種超越時空的潛意識有關。另一方面，有些大腦活動研究專家指出這種現象也有可能是我們的大腦某半邊處理訊息的速度稍為快過另半邊所做成的。
時空隧道
這是時空隧道的碰撞或對夢的記憶。在夢裡已經看到了將要發生的場景，只是記不清夢境了，所以你遇到事情發生的時候會覺得好像那裡經歷過。其實是勾起了你自己的記憶，對夢的記憶。
錯視現象
這個在醫學上還有一種解釋是大腦皮層瞬時放電現象，或者叫做錯視現象，也可稱為視覺記憶，經常會發生在你身處於非常熟悉的環境時。我們的大腦有一個記憶快取區，當你看見一見東西或者遇見一件事情的時候是先把記憶存儲再快取區。之所以會發生眼前的事情好像已經經歷過這種感覺，是因為我們在記憶存儲的時候發生了錯誤，把它存在歷史記憶中去了，在看著眼前的事情的時候你又從歷史記憶中把它找出來，你就覺得好像以前已經發生過了。在大腦疲勞的時候會比較容易產生這樣的錯覺。
生死意識流動的差異
人出生有了意識，到死之前這個意識一直是平坦的流動。到死了之後，人的意識會按照曲折的路線回到出生時，從而一直往復。因為死後的路線曲折，致使生時的記憶被分段的記錄，只有處在接點的記憶才有可能被下一段“生”的意識絞纏，就會出現deja-vu現象。至於為什麼年輕人和老人會有這一現象，也很好解釋。年輕人的正常的意識形態還再形成中，而老年人的大腦的記憶回述功能較強。而中年人由於生活壓力過大，而經常忽視這種感覺，而不是不存在。
時光倒流
物理學上稱這樣的現象是時光倒流，也就是在速度大於光速後時空交錯，四維空間偶爾發生混亂的特殊人體感覺。當發生某個場景的時候，人的控制神經（中樞神經一部分）就會以極快的速度傳送於記憶神經，這時大腦的反應還沒有傳達到記憶神經，所以當大腦的反應傳到記憶神經的時候，就會讓人感到以前發生過一樣。有科學家猜測，這時控制神經和記憶神經的傳輸速度會大於光速。這是對相對論的一個巨大挑戰，當然現在這個理論並沒有得到證明，只是猜想階段。
靈魂學說
雖然正統派的科學者們拒絕談論靈魂的有無，或是毫無餘地地否定這一觀點，但是高能物理學及一些其他的邊緣物理學對這個問題的牽涉是不可否認的。首先，是探討靈魂的構成物質。有一些異端物理學者提出靈魂的本質是一種高能粒子（物理學上有很多推測得來的證據，因為雖然人類可以依賴物理法則和規律預言它的存在，但人類的科技力量不足無法驗證，包括很多種高能粒子等），本身攜帶巨大的能量，可以突破時間及空間的障礙，就是說可以在時間及空間中進行移動。這種推論完全符合愛因斯坦的相對論。它的特異性質在於它可以作為信息的載體進行無序性時空移動。我們頭腦中所有的記憶所有的思考都可以稱之為信息，雖然現在還無法搞清信息的本質是什麼，但卻可以肯定腦電波對它有一定作用。這就是我們所說的思考或是腦內意識活動。而這種粒子平時就大量散播在我們周圍的空間，當然也存在於我們的腦內。正因為它的特性，我們才可以接收到外來信息進行思考、記憶、回憶，還有遺忘。所謂遺忘就是一部分帶有信息的粒子游離開我們腦部的意識空間。遺憾的是至今都沒有搞清楚是什麼原因誘發這種粒子間的吸力和斥力的，或許與我們的腦電波及其他腦內化學物質有關。但是，當我們的腦死亡後就會有大量的粒子游離開我們腦中的記憶區。由於尚不清楚這種粒子的相吸和相斥的原理，也就無法解釋和推算它們的游離比率。在機率很低的情況下，這種粒子在游離之後仍然保持著它在原來在人腦中的排列性狀，換言之也就是保持著這個人（已經死亡）的基本人格和記憶。當它們在遇到新的結合目標（另一個人的腦）並結合之後，在這個人是新生兒（沒有已經形成的記憶的情況下）就會發生人格的轉移，也就是我們通常所說的輪迴或奪舍。但也有意外的情況發生，比如在結合後保持著潛伏狀態到一定時間才突然覺醒，這也就是我們常說的人格突變現象.(也存在於記憶已經形成的人身上結合後覺醒，使其喪失原有人格的情況) 。事實上,我們是無時無刻都會與這種粒子結合，比如我們突然冒出個怪想法，腦子裡突然出現一些詞句……甚至是做夢和預言等現象也都可以用這種理論解釋。即視感也可以這樣解釋。
時空錯亂
時空錯亂。舉個例子：你需要一個工具，但滿屋子都找遍了就是找不到，但過了一會兒或一段時間，這個工具明明擺在平時放它的地方。用愛因斯坦的觀點解釋，就是這個世界有很多時空，每個時空都按照一般的規律運行著，他們是平行的，一般不會有交叉，只是有時間的先後，但也有例外的情況，出現時空交叉，即時空錯亂，這是就會發生工具消失的情況，例如一把鉗子沒了，轉眼它又在哪兒了，也就是說，鉗子暫時到其他的時空轉了一圈，這個時候正讓你碰上，當然，這樣的巧合還是很少的。人也一樣，如果碰巧你存在的時空和未來的時空交叉，也就是說，你有很短暫的時間進入了未來時空，很快又回來了，假如你在未來時空用鉗子修了一輛腳踏車，你回到現在的時空後，還要進行同樣的動作（修腳踏車），但你的記憶里已經存儲了這件事情，所以你就感覺這件事，這個景象好像在哪裡經歷過。這和年齡與其他經歷沒什麼關係。
