黃原，陝西師範大學生命科學學院教授，博士生導師，中國昆蟲學會理事，陝西省昆蟲學會副理事長，陝西省動物學會副理事長，《遺傳》和《昆蟲分類學報》編委。1980年進入陝西師範大學生物學學習，1990獲得動物學專業博士學位；1992-1994年在西北農業大學植保系從事分子系統學博士後研究；1996-1998年美國內布拉斯加大學做訪問學者和博士後研究，從事昆蟲分子系統學與進化生物學研究；2004年2-8月在加拿大蒙特婁大學生物化學系從事基因組學和生物信息學研究；2015年3-9月在英國倫敦自然歷史博物館進行基於第二代測序技術的高通量生物多樣性檢測和生物信息學研究。

先後為本科生講授生物信息學、分子生物學、普通動物學等課程，為研究生開設基因組學、分子進化和分子系統學、生物信息學、整合動物學等課程。

研究方向主要集中在昆蟲和鳥類的分子進化和分子系統學、譜系基因組學等方面。主持完成國家自然科學基金項目7項，獲得陝西省人民政府科技進步一、二等獎各一次，在國內外生物學期刊發表論文113篇，出版專著3部。

主要研究領域及興趣
黃原教授的《分子進化生物學實驗室》主要從事分子進化和分子系統學研究，包括利用高通量測序技術獲得的基因組和轉錄組數據研究直翅目昆蟲和鳥類主要類群的時空演化模式和系統發育關係，利用DNA複合條形碼技術進行土壤和水體生物多樣性編目和群落演化研究。近期的研究項目包括：直翅目昆蟲的轉錄組學和譜系基因組學研究；鳥類和直翅目昆蟲的線粒體基因組學研究；基於DNA複合條形碼技術研究秦巴山區土壤和水體生物群落的多樣性及演化動態。
