進入21世紀以一，我國高等教育尤其是高職教育發展迅速。近年來我國高校持續擴大招生，學生的英語基礎參差不齊，如何選擇實用高效的英語教材，讓學生在有限的學制和時間內更有效地掌握英語知識和技能，就成為英語界同仁們共同關心和研究的課題。為此，本編寫組在總結多年英語寫作教學經驗的基礎上，根據全國《高等學校英語高職專業英語教學大綱》的內容和精神，結合高職高專英語專業學生的特點和三、四、六級英語等級考試大綱的要求，特編寫了《高職高專實用英語寫作》。本教材旨在系統訓練學生的英語寫作能力，幫助學生掌握並熟練運用英語寫作基礎知識和技巧，能夠寫出符合英語表達習慣的句子、段落和篇章，做到語言通順、表達準確、中心突出、文體得當，從而全面完成教學大綱規定的英語寫作教學的內容和要求。
