本書是在中國老年學學會骨質疏鬆委員會、中國骨質疏鬆雜誌社、香港骨質疏鬆學會(香港)、亞太骨質疏鬆基金會(香港)和國際骨質疏鬆基金會共同支持下，由北京東方亞太骨礦研究中心組織實施，國內外近150多位專家學者歷時三年共同編譯而成。
