1987年獲英國愛丁堡大學分子遺傳學專業博士學位，先後在美國賓夕法尼亞大學擔任高級研究員、康奈爾大學擔任終身教授，長期從事探索免疫學領域的基礎研究，在揭示免疫反應細胞和分子作用機制及開創新的探測技術方法手段方面取得了突出成績。在Nature Immunology、Immunity、J. Experimental Medicine, J.Immunology等高水平國際期刊雜誌發表SCI論文80餘篇，相關研究成果的獨特與創新性被Nature和Cell、Nature Reviews Immunology等進行專題報導和評論。曾榮獲Young Investigators Award by International Cytokine Society、Howard Temin Award (NCI/NIH)等獎勵。
