Fig. 1 Partial density of states for the (a) NiAl0.625Re0.375 and (b) Ni0.625AlRe0.375 alloys. When Re occupies the Al sites, the d-like bands of Re appears with a double peak shape so as to raises the total energy of the whole structure. When Re occupies the Ni sites, the Re d-like bands appear as a sharp main peak and this peak moves downwards to about -1eV below EF to decrease the formation energy of the whole structure
