在具體的研究過程中，張瑋採用了首先進行理論建構，然後進行分層論證的方式。《隱喻的謀篇機制研究》在研究前人的理論模式的基礎上，通過改造和補充、完善構建出一個多層次研究隱喻的理論框架，包括辭彙語法層、語義層、語用層和認知層，隱喻在不同的層面上發揮不同的作用，即在認知層面上對隱喻進行投射和融合，在語用層面對隱喻進行識別和協商，在語義層面對隱喻進行構建和聯繫，最終由辭彙語法來體現。通過對不同層面上隱喻的表現來解釋和評價語篇的連貫。在其後的三章中，張瑋分別探討了隱喻在語義、語用和認知三個層面上對語篇連貫所作的貢獻。
作者簡介
張瑋，男，副教授，博士，碩士生導師。1978年12月生於遼寧大連。2008年6月畢業於山東大學外國語學院英語語言文學專業，獲文學博士學位。現任西南財經大學經貿外語學院外國語言學與套用語言學研究所所長。主要研究方向為認知語言學、功能語言學、語用學、語篇分析。在《外語教學與研究》、《外國語》、《外語與外語教學》、《外語學刊》、《外語教學》等外語類核心期刊上發表論文10餘篇，出版學術專著1部，參編教材2本，主持四川省科研課題1項、西南財經大學科研課題4項。
