謝朝群，1995年畢業於福建師範大學外國語學院，獲文學學士學位，1998年畢業於福建師範大學外國語學院，獲文學碩士學位，2004年畢業於福建師範大學文學院，獲文學博士學位。現為福建師範大學外國語學院教授，廣東外語外貿大學外國語言學及套用語言學研究中心博士後。研究方向包括語用學、語言社會學、語言哲學、文化交際等。

2004年11月進入廣東外語外貿大學外國語語言文學博士後流動站，是進入華南地區首個外國語言文學博士後流動站的第一人。他在站期間主要從事語言禮貌研究與語言模因研究，因科研的需要，將本應只有兩年的工作期延長至三年。在站期間，謝朝群博士取得了豐碩的研究成果，主持科研課題3項，在國內外學術期刊或論文集上發表論文17篇，在國際性和全國性學術會議上發表會議論文10篇，出版或即將出版學術專著3部，並獲得多項省部級榮譽稱號。
