裴偉士

裴偉士

裴偉士，臨床及公共衛生病毒學家，目前為香港大學李嘉誠醫學院病毒學講座教授、公共衛生學院院長、譚華正基金（醫療科學）教授。裴偉士教授合作領導在香港大學的世界衛生組織流感H5參考實驗室，以及領導香港大學─巴斯德研究中心。

裴教授於2006年當選為倫敦皇家學會院士；2007年榮獲法國榮譽軍團騎士團勳章；同年在馬來西亞Akademi Sains獲得馬哈蒂爾科學獎；2008年在香港獲得銀紫荊星章（S.B.S.）。2015年當選香港科學院創院院士。此外，他亦擔任學術期刊《刺針感染性疾病》（Lancet Infectious Diseases）及PLoS Medicine編輯委員會委員。

人物經歷

裴教授在1972於錫蘭大學醫科畢業。在1981年於牛津大學完成博士及培訓，並在紐卡斯爾皇家維多利亞醫院接受臨床病毒學訓練。裴教授是一位臨床和公共衛生的病毒學家，他特別對人畜共患的病毒，例如流感和冠狀病毒特感興趣。他目前的研究包括關於流感病毒的機理、先天免疫反應、傳播、生態、及在人類和動物（例如家禽、豬和野鳥）中的流行病學。他的研究對人類豬流感和禽流感病毒的出現和其他病理機理有重大的發現，他共同參與的研究亦對控制流感和動物流感提供實證基礎。
他對H5N1禽流感所引發的嚴重肺炎有嶄新理解，以至對此病引入新的治療方法。他在2003年沙士爆發期間，在沙士冠狀病毒的發現、診斷和病理有重要角色。他目前亦對中東呼吸綜合症冠狀病毒進行積極研究。
裴教授服務於多個世界衛生組織和聯合國糧農組織旗下的常設委員會和特別諮詢委員會，他亦代表世衛調查在中國大陸的H7N9甲型流感和在韓國及沙烏地阿拉伯的中東呼吸綜合症爆發疫情。

社會榮譽

他2005年獲頒裘槎基金會資深醫學院士；2006年被選為倫敦皇家學院院士；2007年榮獲法國榮譽軍團騎士團勳章；2007年於馬來西亞馬Akademi Sains榮獲哈蒂爾科學獎；2008年獲香港特區頒授銀紫荊星章。
2006年裴教授被美國時代雜誌評選為過去六十年為亞洲控制傳染學作出貢獻，六十三位的亞洲英雄其中一位傑出人物。
