蘇姍·巴斯內特於上世紀80年代，在英國華威大學（Warwick University）創建了翻譯與比較文化研究中心，並擔任教授。在歐洲多國的教育背景，給她奠定了不同語言和文化的研究基礎。她曾在世界多個大學任教，最早在義大利，又從美國輾轉到現在的華威大學。
人物作品
蘇姍·巴斯內特著作頗豐，寫過20多本書。她的《翻譯研究》（Translation Studies，2002年第三版）寫成於1980年，一版再版，已成為世界上翻譯研究領域最重要的教科書。她近年的著作還有與安德烈·勒菲弗爾（André Lefevere）合著的《文化構建》（Constructing Cultures，1998年），與Harish Trivedi共同編寫的《後殖民主義翻譯》（Post-Colonial Translation，1999），等等。除了學術著作，蘇姍·巴斯內特還熱愛詩歌，並出版了一本詩集《生命的互換》（Exchanging Lives，2002年）。與此同時，她還為多家報社撰稿。
