《英語習語整合處理法》首先對習語的形成及其特性作了共時和歷時的描述,進而對處理習語的不同方法和模式展開評述,最後從總體整合的視角集中探討了以概念結構為依據的習語處理方法即整合處理法。 相對個體論而言的整體論注重整體而不偏重於將總體分解或分割成部分,並強調整體的重要性以及部分之間的相互依賴性,這是習語整合處理法的理論依據。 《英語習語整合處理法》旨在抽讀者展示在生成和解釋習語時,如何通過通過整合處理法將思想映射到語言中使用形式與內涵匹配,並試圖擴展這一研究用於語言學習,以最有效的方法來處理語言中的習語形象。
