內容簡介
英語教學既是語言教學，也是文化教學。美國著名人類學家薩丕爾指出：“語言不能脫離文化而存在。”(Sapir，1921)語言是文化的載體，每個民族都有自己獨特的風俗習慣和文化背景，人們總是根據自己的文化背景及語言習慣用自己固有的方式去理解別人所寫的東西，對於英語專業的學生而言，不熟悉英美國家的社會文化背景知識，就會給跨文化交際造成很大的障礙。隨著全球化時代的到來和改革開放的深入，我國國際間跨文化交流與合作日益增多，同時，各行各業對具有夯實外語知識技能和廣博全球文化知識的人才的需求也日益迫切。2004年，國家教育部高等教育司公布的《大學英語課程教學要求》明確地把學生“文化意識”的培養列入到英語教學中，認為在英語教學中培養學生的文化意識與培養學生的語言意識、語言技能同等重要。
