《英國國家概況與文化》以英國社會與文化為主要線索，重點介紹英國的地理環境、政體、文化教育、宗教信仰、商務經濟、社會福利、習俗與婚姻、傳媒、藝術、交通運輸、旅遊及娛樂等方面內容，所選資料主要出自近年國外出版物、官方網站及一些重要的參考文獻。

全書共分為十二章，每章包含Text 1和Text 2兩節內容，Text 1為主體信息文章，Text 為相關知識性文章。《英國國家概況與文化》內容新穎、知識豐富、圖文並茂。編者旨在突破傳統教材的編寫模式。突出語言與文化知識面，使讀者能夠對知識性文化和交際性文化在社會和語言中的關係進行多方位和多層次的學習和研究。
