教育經歷
1982年獲湖南農業大學遺傳學學士學位
1987年獲湖南農業大學遺傳學碩士學位
1988年至1992年在美國路易維爾大學生物系讀博捉凳厚士研究生，1992年獲生物學博士學位
工作經歷
1997年至1999年在哈佛大學醫學院麻省總坑兵地醫院 (Massachusetts General Hospital) 從事博士後研究；1999年至2000年任麻省總醫院助理生物學家 (Assistant Biologist) 。2000年至2004年，在美國德克薩斯農工大樂漏微備學醫學院擔任助理教授。2004年至2013年，在清華大學生命學院任教授。2015年受聘為湖南大學生物學院教授。
研究領域
我們用模式生物果蠅研究腦發育探笑府的細胞和分子調控機制。研究內容包括：
(1) 果蠅祖敬組大店匪霸應腦神經上皮幹細胞維持和套多轉化的分子機制；
(2) 果蠅大腦神經元多樣性產生的機制。
