中國城市軌道交通經過40多年的蓬勃發展，在城市經濟發展中的地位已日益凸顯。截至目前，中國獲批軌道交通建設規劃的城市已達44個，共126條線總長超過3000公里；到2020年，預計將達到53個，2040年中國城市軌道交通規劃84個城市批准建設。隨著城市軌道交通事業的迅猛發展，城市軌道交通信息化系統的市場容量也隨之擴張，“網際網路+智慧城市”，“網際網路+軌道交通”也必將極大的推動現代城市與軌道交通的有序發展。如何利用信息化技術對捷運各個子系統進行統籌管理，實現信息互通、資源整合，數據共享已經成為各個城市捷運未來發展進程中面臨的關鍵問題。
與此同時，近年來以大數據、雲計算、無線通信、移動網際網路為代表的新一代信息技術正在進一步推動城市軌道交通步入信息化、智慧型化新時代。新一輪信息技術圍繞海量信息採集、傳輸、處理、套用的各個環節技術的同步推進，使信息化推進更為迅猛，滲透更加廣泛深入，影響更加深遠。軌道交通信息化將會以運營管理、勘探測量、規劃設計、工程施工、資產管理、維護養護等全過程的網路化、數位化、可視化、智慧型化、自動化的綜合系統展現在我們面前。

After more than 40 years of rapid development, China's urban rail transit has has been increasingly highlighted in urban economic development. Up to now, more than 40 cities have approved to construct rail transit, a total of 126 lines with more than 3000 km. By 2020, it is expected to reach about 50, the total operating mileage will exceed 6000 km. With the rapid development of China's urban rail transit, the market capacity of the information system of urban rail transit is also expanding. “Internet + Smart City”, “Internet + Urban Rail Transit” is sure to greatly promote orderly development of modern cities and rail traffic.
How to utilize information technology to co-ordinate the management of subway subsystems to realize information sharing, resource integration, data sharing has become the key issues in the development process of the urban subway in the future.
At the same time, the new generation information technology represented by big data, cloud computing, wireless communications, mobile Internet is promoting the urban rail transit into a new era of information and intelligence in recent years. The new round of IT has greatly make the informatization advance more quickly, more in-depth penetration, more far-reaching influence synchronizing technology of each link including information-collection, transmission, processing and applications.
