劇情簡介
賈傑偵探本是個普通的警衛，被罪犯炸傷，經過生化實驗成了半機器人，他全身上下裝有14,000個精巧的機關，辦案成績卓著，一直洪備局是城市裡最有名的偵探，壞心的克勞博士卻要故意陷害賈傑，因此他必須想辦法重振自己的聲威。 G型神探一直以來為Metro市里最出色的警探之一，直到邪惡的克勞博士(魯伯特-艾弗萊特飾)出現為止。克勞博士設計陷害G型神探，讓他被誤以為是盜取Metro市立銀行數百萬元的嫌疑犯，堡她企害得他不但被摘下警徽同時阿戲疊榜還名譽掃地。G型神探一定得將邪惡的克勞博士繩之以法，洗刷自己的冤情，恢復神探的美名。

有別於《星際大戰首部曲》影迷大都是20年受《星際大戰》所啟發的中年及年輕一代影迷；《G型神探》所吸引的主要觀眾群則是80年代看同名卡通影集長大的青少年，因為這個長得斯文，可是辦案工具很畸型的《G型神探》，可曾是他們心目中的偶像。迪士尼公司即是考慮到現今的特效技
術已經成熟到可以把當年只有動畫才能作到的畫面，以真人拍攝的手法呈現在電影裡。曾主演1998年暑假特效大片《酷斯拉》男主角的馬修柏德瑞克，對於飾演科幻電影可說是架輕就熟了，對於在藍板前演戲對他而言已經不是很大的困難了，只是這一次因應《G型神探》劇情的需要，他必須要與自己身上的各種機關演戲，因此難度又更高了。

至於在本片裡飾演大反派，也就是G型神探死對頭的，則是曾經在《新娘不是我》里搶盡茱莉亞羅勃茲風采的英俊小生魯柏艾瑞特，雖然拍特效電影經驗不是很豐富，但是他在拍片現場卻玩得很高興，再加上《G型神探》是他1999里的第三部電影，片約之多讓他拍起喜劇片又更開心了！
