生態寫作學以達爾文進化論和跨文化英語寫作系統論為基礎，由黃換乃教授在國內外首次正式提出了生態寫作學理論（Ecowritics），寫作即適應與選擇的理論，探討了適應、選擇與寫作生態環境圈的關係，討論了生態寫作學的功能和方法、生態寫作學的三重層級及其相互關係以及該理論的理論及實踐意義。
《生態寫作學：跨文化交際二語寫作初探》為具有原創性理論的研究論文。該成果為生態寫作學的宣言書，是二語寫作和母語寫作理論研究和套用的新視角，具有廣大的實際套用前景。該成果是《跨文化英語寫作系統論》和《英語寫作四級熱門話題及透析》項目及其兩部同名出版專著的繼續和深入，在2012年10月俄羅斯《語言學與跨文化交際》國際會議大會宣讀，並全文收錄於馬格尼托哥爾斯克大學出版社2012年9月出版的《語言學與跨文化交際國際會議論文集》（ISBN978-5-86781-981-1）。
理論基礎
《生態寫作學：跨文化交際二語寫作初探》論文研究成果是在兩個基礎項目及其科研成果基礎上的深入研究和繼續。這兩個基礎項目及成果之一為西安工業大學專著資助《跨文化英語寫作系統論》項目及其同名成果個人專著（陝西人民出版社，2005年），該專著獲西安工業大學2007年人文社會科學研究優秀成果二等獎，為2009年西安工業大學申請博士授權立項建設單位支撐材料之一，排名專著類第8；另一個為西北工業大學出版社資助研究項目《英語寫作四級熱門話題及透析》及其同名專著（西北工業大學出版，2005年8月），該專著獲西安工業大學2007年人文社會科學研究優秀成果二等獎，2007年8月該專著修訂再版，取得更大了的社會認可和效益。
區別與聯繫
生態寫作學（Ecowritics），是寫作學的一個分支，其觀點認為寫作就是適應與選擇，探討了適應、選擇與寫作生態環境圈的關係，討論了生態寫作學的功能和方法、生態寫作學的三重層級及其相互關係以及該理論的理論及實踐意義。生態寫作學（Ecowritics）由中國學者黃換乃教授在國內外首先提出並倡導的，直接來源於達爾文的進化論和該教授的跨文化英語寫作系統論。
寫作生態理論研究環境( 自然的環境、建構的環境、甚至是虛構的環境) 與話語( 說、寫與思考) 之間的相互關係。起源於Marilyn Cooper( 1986) 的文章《寫作生態學》( The Ecology of Writing) ，寫作生態是一個後過程法，因為它看上去超出了單獨作者局限，朝著更大的系統發展，而作者只是其中的一部分( Hawisher et al.，1996) 。寫作生態理論探討寫作與環境之間的關係，寫作與環境相互聯繫，密不可分。（孫先洪，任連奎)
顯然，生態寫作學的概念要大，而寫作生態理論只是前者研究的一個組成部分。
英語摘要
Employing Darwin’s principle of natural selection to the writing research because of the global ecological wave of “return to the nature” and cultural turn in the social sciences in the last 50 years makes definition of L2 writing as a selection activity of the author’s adaptation to fit the writing eco-environment in L2 culture here in this paper. In the process of writing, all the adaptation and selection are conducted by the author. The author’s adaptation are selective，meanwhile, the selection are adaptive. The author’s adaptation/selection is embodied by three aspects: adaptation/selection to needs, adaptation/selection to competence, and adaptation/selection to writing eco-environment. Prominent characteristics of Ecowritics, which are obviously reflected in both natural ecosystems and writing ecosystems, are: 1) stressing wholeness and relevance ; 2) seeking dynamics and balance; 3) highlighting ‘writing participants’; 4) indicating writing esthetics and ethics, and 5) promoting diverse and unity. It is believed that these features of Ecowritics may shed some lights on writing studies in terms of the concepts, methodology, way of thinking and what not.
