2010年6月-2014年6月就讀於
愛荷華州立大學,獲機械工程與生物可再生資源與技術雙博士學位,2014年6月-2014年12月期間從事博士後研究,合作導師為Robert Brown教授;2014年12月-2018年7月,在美國三角研究院(RTI International)能源部門任研發工程師(永久職位- Permanent Employment);由於突出的學術表現,2018年-2019年受聘於密西根大學機械工程系擔任長聘助理教授(Tenure Track Assistant Professor)一職,2019年初回國全職任教於浙江大學。王凱歌博士的具體研究領域包括:生物質、有機固廢的熱解、水熱等熱化學轉化技術的基礎研究及新型工藝的開發最佳化和技術經濟性分析等。其先後主持由中央組織部、
國家自然科學基金、密西根大學、福特汽車、美國能源部、蓋茨基金會等資助的多項科研項目。近年在Green Chem., Biotechnol Adv.等權威SCI 期刊上發表論文30餘篇,論文SCI總引用2000餘次,多篇論文入選ESI高被引。應
英國皇家化學會邀請作為共同主編出版
生物質熱裂解學術專著一本(Fast Pyrolysis of Biomass: Advances in Science and Technology),撰寫專題章節兩部。受邀擔任本領域內頂級學術會議(TCS2016)的技術委員會委員和分會場主席,並擔任美國
自然科學基金(NSF)和美國農業部(USDA)的項目評審專家。曾受邀在美國可再生能源國家實驗室、馬賽諸塞大學、
日本東北大學等國際知名學術機構做邀請報告。其在科技成果的創新和轉化方面也有著直接的經驗,發明專利(US2015/0276689A1)已經成功實現商業化,取得了顯著的經濟和科研效益。
