This story comes from The Floods of Autumn in the Taoist classic, Zhuangzi. The frog that lives at the bottom of the well can only see a small patch of sky at the mouth of the well. And yet he believes he has the whole world to himself. The frog in the well is commonly used to describe those with limited knowledge who think highly of themselves.
