TheambitiousandpatrioticideaoftheVarnacitizensGerchoGERCHEV,IvanKAMBUROV,VasilSTAVREV,NaydenNAYDENOVandYordanTODOROVcametrue.ItwasheartilysupportedbythecomposersDobriHRISTOV,PanchoVLADIGEROV,maestroGeorgiATANASOV…ProbablyallthosepeopleandmanyothernotableBulgarians,whohadcontributedtothebirthofVarnaMusicCelebrations,neverrealizedtheimportanceoftheirmission,initiatedinthatJulyeveningbythesea-side.
ButmoreimportantforVarnaandBulgariaisthatthespace,conqueredbythemusic,hasbeenkeptbyfuturegenerations.Somethingmore–overcomingthecataclysmsofwar,ofsocialandpoliticalchanges,theVarnacelebrationshavewontheprestigeandfameofanINTERNATIONALMUSICFESTIVAL,whose80thanniversarywecelebratenow!
LetushonourthefoundersoftheINTERNATIONALMUSICFESTIVAL,WHICHNAMEISASSOCIATEDWITH…THESUN!Becauseisn’tthesunthefirstpictureoftheVarnasummer,emerginginyourmind?Letushonourthemfortheirwisdomandsagacity,fortheirpatriotismandhistoricalmassage,theybequeathedtous.Forthemusic.
