東柵當代藝術中心成立於2006年，總面積6800平方米, 是以國際當代、先鋒實驗、原創學術為定位, 集藝術創作、藝術交流、學術研討為一體的大型、專業、國際化藝術機構。
Founded in 2006 as a non-profit organization, with a total area of 6,800 square meters, Dongzhart Contemporary Art Center is dedicated to be a professional and international art institution that foster artistic creation, exchange and learning. The mission is based on six words of International, Contemporary, Pioneering, Experimental, Original and Academic, to encourage the development and enjoyment of contemporary art for an international audience.

美術館展覽空間面積2000平方米，專用於當代藝術展覽。室外場地2000平方米，可為大型雕塑、裝置作品、行為表演提供舒適寬敞的空間。15間70—100平方米的藝術家工作室，正式入駐的主要藝術家工作室有：吳山專國際紅色幽默站、中法藝術家工作室、蘇州工藝美院實驗藝術工作室、中國美術學院跨媒體學院空間多媒體工作室、中國美術學院實習基地等。1500平方米的集合辦公室和學術會議中心。500平方米的咖啡廳和500平方米的西餐廳。
依託江、浙、滬雄厚的經濟基礎及完全融入國際社會的環境，致力於打造成具國際意義的，在國內最具原創力的當代藝術中心，推動當代藝術在中國的全面發展。
The Art Museum with an area of 2,000 square meters is dedicated to contemporary art exhibitions.The Outdoor Space of 2,000 square meters could accommodate large sculptures, installations and performance art. 15 Artists' Studios vary in size from70-100 square meters (now including Wu Shanzhuan’s Red Humour International Station,Sino-French Studio, China Academy of Art Multimedia Studio and Practice Base,etc).Office and Conference space has a total area of 1,500 square meters. 500 square meters of different Cafes and 500 square meters of Restaurants.
Based on the strong economic foundation and integration into the global community in Yangtze Delta of China, Dongzhart Contemporary Art Center is committed to become the foremost contemporary art center in creativity of China and to play a central and international role in promoting the comprehensive development of contemporary art in China.
