朱敏，男，1965年10月生，博士。1984年獲南京大學地質系古生物地層專業學士學位，1987年獲中國地質科學院研究生部（中國地質大學）古生物地層專業碩士學位，1990年獲中國科學院古脊椎動物與古人類研究所古脊椎動物學博士學位。先後在中國地質博物館、法國巴黎自然歷史博物館、德國柏林自然博物館和中國科學院古脊椎動物與古人類研究所從事研究工作。

現任中國科學院古脊椎動物與古人類研究所所長、研究員，中國古生物學會副理事長，中國地質學會理事，國際地層委員會泥盆系分會投票委員，英國倫敦林奈學會會員，國際地質對比計畫IGCP491項目主席，西北大學兼職教授，《古生物學報》和《古脊椎動物學報》編委，中央國家機關青聯委員，國際地層委員會泥盆系分會投票委員。
研究成果
主要從事早期脊椎動物的起源、演化及相關生物地層學研究。在不斷發現新化石的基礎上，對古生代魚類各大主要門類都作了深入研究。近年來，領導的課題組致力於對硬骨魚類起源、早期演化以及四足動物起源的研究，並取得了多項進展，在英國Nature雜誌上發表了5篇論文。課題組研究的4億年前的斑鱗魚為解開硬骨魚類起源之謎提供了重要線索。課題組發現的中國螈是魚石螈類化石是亞洲的首次發現，擴大了泥盆紀四足動物的古地理分布區域，將促使研究者重新審視四足動物起源、早期演化與擴散的已有假說。參與了對最早脊椎動物化石的研究。近年承擔了國家科技部、國家自然科學基金委員會和中國科學院各類科研項目多項。
獲獎情況
1999年獲中國科學院青年科學家獎二等獎，"中國科學院優秀青年"稱號；2000年被授予"中央國家機關傑出青年"稱號，獲政府特殊津貼；2002年獲"中國青年五四獎章"。並曾獲中國科學院自然科學獎一等獎、中國高校自然科學獎一等獎和國家自然科學獎二等獎。1999年獲國家傑出青年基金資助。
