聽診的來歷
“像醋煮沸發出的聲音” （Hippocrates，公元前400年）
大約在公元前400年，Hippocrates就描述了聽診的基本概念。他在De Morbis一書中寫道： “將耳朵貼著胸壁，你就能聽到一種像醋煮沸時發出的聲音”。此後，直到1616年，在文獻中才再次提到心音，William Harvey將心音比為水在水箱裡發出的兩次撞擊聲。1628年，Harvey在De Motu Cordis一書中指出：“隨著心臟的每次搏動，大量的血液就從靜脈輸送到動脈，於是就產生一次脈搏，而且能在胸壁上聽到它的聲音。”
1715年，第一次出現了將心音與病理學聯繫到一起的論述。James Douglas把一個主動脈反流病人的心音形容為“幾乎是難以置信的”。這些聲音是Douglas在一定距離聽到的，而且之後也通過屍檢證實。
William Hunter隨後將動靜脈瘺引起的震顫和雜音比作空氣“穿過一個小孔或者是念字母R的延長音。”1806年，Jean Nicolas Corvisard提出了利用從體內臟器發出的聲音來發現疾病。
