西雅圖Grunge音樂對美國主流音樂產生影響不久，就出現了一批所謂Post-Grunge風格的樂隊。他們與西雅圖Grunge音樂的主要區別在於：西雅圖Grunge音樂堅定地追隨了80年代的地下另類搖滾樂風格，而Post-Grunge音樂則更多地被概念上的Grunge音樂風格----內在形式廣泛流行的，思想嚴肅的重搖滾----所影響。所以很多Post-Grunge風格的樂隊只是簡單地模仿了Grunge音樂的風格表達，卻不具有最初Grunge藝術的獨立特質。
