新出現的冠狀病毒,包括嚴重急性呼吸系統綜合徵冠狀病毒1型、MERS-CoV和嚴重急性呼吸綜合徵冠狀病毒2型的差異致病性和宿主嗜性的體內比較研究;病毒-宿主相互作用的研究與體內多組學分析;新型疫苗接種策略和小分子抗病毒藥物在感染動物模型中的療效評估。

長期專注於嚴重急性呼吸系統綜合徵冠狀病毒1型及2型(SARSCoV-1,SARS-CoV-2)、中東呼吸道綜合徵病毒(MERS-CoV)和高致病性禽流感等烈性呼吸道病原體的研究,以第一作者在《自然》(Nature)雜誌首先報導奧密克戎變異株的複製能力以及致病性均弱於其他關注變異株,為奧密克戎變異株針對性的疫苗和治療藥物研究提供了重要科學依據。此研究揭示了新冠病毒致病力逐漸減弱的演化路徑,警示全球仍需加強對新冠病毒的監測與防控。在國內及國際核心期刊發表論文26篇。
