尼爾·岱爾蒙德(Neil Diamond)1941年2月24日出生於美國紐約。早在十幾歲時，Diamond 就和同一個高中的Neil Sedak和Bobby Feldman一起組成了Strangeloves，開始嘗試詞曲創作。

Neil Diamond
1960年他和Jack Packer一起以Neil & Jack為名錄製了他第一張唱片。1962年，大學畢業的他成了全職創作人，他效力於CBS， 但卻沒有取得成功。直到1965年，作為作曲Diamo憑藉一首由Leiber And Stoller 製作的《Sunday And Me》 取得了他的第一次
成功。
接下來的一年中，Diamond 又開始了他
的第三次嘗試。 他加入了Bert Berns Bang
作為製作人與Jett Barry、Ellie greenwi-
ch共同工作，終於以獨具迷人魅力的一曲《
Cherry Cherry》 進入了全美流行曲排行榜
的Top 10。1967年，Diamond 創作出令人難
以忘懷的《I'm A Believer》和《 Little
Bit Me, A Little Bit You》，並銷售出了
100萬張的好成績。同年 Diamond 還創作了
《Thank The Lord For The Night》，這首
歌曲融合了音節的感覺和簡潔流暢的曲調。
與Band合法解約後，Diamond 又轉簽於
MCA唱片公司，並從紐約搬到了洛杉磯。 當
Rock路線的專輯《Velvet Gloves And Spit
》沒有取得什麼成功之後，Biamond 就創作
了一系列旋律簡潔易記的歌曲，如《Sweet
Caroline》、《Holly Holy》以及兩首冠軍
歌曲《Cracklin Rosie》、《Song Sung B-
lue》。
此後，Diamond 又拓展了他的創作領域，
開始為電影原聲音樂發揮他的才能，他的《
Beautiful Jonathan Livingston Seagull》
獲得了葛萊美獎。
1978年，Diamond 還與Barbra Streis-
and共同演繹了《The Wisful You Don't B-
ring Me Flowers》，廣受樂迷喜愛。Diam-
ond又在電影《The Jazz Singer》中扮演了
他生平第一個角色。電影原聲專輯銷售出了
100萬張。80年代，Diamond又與創作高手G-
ilbert Becaud,David Foster聯袂合作，為
電影《E.T.》作曲《Heart Light》， 隨電
影一起轟動世界。
Diamond 的成功來自於他天才的創作才
華和對音樂的不懈追求，他在歐美樂壇留下
的足跡是無可替代的。
