大英國協大學協會

大英國協大學協會（英文：Association of Commonwealth Universities，縮寫：ACU）是一個大英國協體系的國家之下，有37個國家超過500所成員大學的教育相關組織。

主要會員包括牛津大學、劍橋大學、多倫多大學、不列顛哥倫比亞大學、香港大學、香港中文大學、墨爾本大學、蒙納士大學和新加坡國立大學等世界知名高等學府。

發展歷史

1912年，為首的倫敦大學在倫敦發起了一個於帝國體制下、53所大學組成的會議。當時發起人們呼籲，他們需要一個“咨議局”來負責聯繫並代表海內外的各大學對中樞表達綜合意見。1913年，ACU以大英帝國“大學局”之姿成立了辦事處。爾後於倫敦期貨交易所的資助下，ACU於1919年獲得英鎊£5,000為其辦公資金，其餘支出則由國家負責補足。1948年，大學局更名為Association of Universities of the British Commonwealth；1963年更為現名。

Anastasios Christodoulou博士曾經擔任ACU1980年至1996年的秘書長。1986年英國女王伊莉莎白二世成為ACU的贊助人。

建設宗旨

其宗旨是“我們為我們的成員機構服務，以提升國際在高等教育上的合作與共識，並居中提供更廣泛的服務和所需要的設施”。

團體會員

英國成員：牛津大學（University of Oxford）、劍橋大學（University of Cambridge）、倫敦大學（University of London）等。

中國香港成員：香港大學（University of Hong Kong）、香港中文大學（The Chinese University of Hong Kong）等。

加拿大成員：多倫多大學（University of Toronto）、不列顛哥倫比亞大學（University of British Columbia）、麥吉爾大學（McGill University）等。

澳大利亞成員：蒙納士大學（Monash University）、墨爾本大學（University of Melbourne）、悉尼大學（University of Sydney）等。

新加坡成員：新加坡國立大學（National University of Singapore）、南洋理工大學（Nanyang Technological University）等。

The Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) is the world's first and oldest international university network, established in 1913.

A UK-registered charity, the ACU has over 500 member institutions in developed and developing countries across the Commonwealth. Drawing on the collective experience and expertise of our membership, the ACU seeks to address issues in international higher education through a range of projects, networks, and events.

The ACU administers scholarships, provides academic research and leadership on issues in the sector, and promotes inter-university cooperation and the sharing of good practice – helping universities serve their communities, now and into the future.
