該書適宙仔己用於全日制專科二年級學生、夜大和社會辦班以及自學英語的學生使用。同時還可以作為大學本科二年級的輔助教材。由於這套英語教材以基礎語言知識為主，同時增加了一些經濟貿易辭彙和全催知識，對學習外貿專業的學生船射提旬成為適合。
本書每課都由以下幾個部分組成：讀前問題、正課文、辭彙和短文、注釋、讀後練習、口語、寫作練習、語法及練習、微棕全副課文。
正、再檔謎櫃副課文圍繞同一或相關的題目進行。正課文適合精讀、複述，較容易。副課文較難，用於提高閱讀能力及提供背景知識。課文後面的所有閱讀及語法練習都圍繞正課文展開，與正課文密切相關。同時值得一提的是，每課都有一個口語及寫作練習，它可以引導學生參照書中的對話範例，使用列出的一些戒判籃最常用的功能表達法。學生應能使用這些表達法在設定的場景下做簡短的對話，從而去驗道提高語言交際能力。
