Village People(鄉下人)，是創建於1977年的美國男子演唱組合。是由同性戀組成的組合（鄉村基佬），最初創建的創意是COS同性戀流行的幻想角色,起步時因為同性戀當時不受大眾理解，所以小範圍出道，後來歌曲的火熱迅速領他們進入主流。他們最著名的一首歌當屬《YMCA》。
YMCA全稱：Young Men's Christian Association，.《基督教青年會》創作靈感來源於當時的社會團體：基督教青年，是為男青年提供健身和臨時住宿的福利場所，向來就是同性戀者的漁場。 由於《YMCA》在同性戀以及異性戀世界範圍中的流行和另一首《I Will Survive》都被視為女權主義和同性戀運動的聖歌。

《基督教青年會》（YMCA）是由一支同性樂隊創作的一首帶有很濃重同志色彩的歌曲，"Village People" 的演唱組，他們穿上制服——各名歌手分別代表建築工、印第安人、牛仔、警察、皮條族和士兵——構成對所謂傳統的的男子漢氣概和當代社會歧視的絕妙諷刺。而歌中所唱的“呆在YMCA其樂無窮……這裡有年輕男人所需的一切……你可以與其它年輕男人結伴而行”對許多同性戀來說簡直是一目了然。
而歌曲的優異表現和火熱迅速領他們進入主流，成為全世界流行的一首歌曲。
提起YMCA，估計80年代以後出生的朋友們大多不甚了了；而對於生於70年代或者更早一些的朋友來說，印象最深的大概莫過於那首存在眾多不同語言翻唱版的Y-M-C-A以及那雙手高高舉過頭頂（Y）、雙手彎曲置於雙肩（M）、雙手向右（C）、雙手面前交叉（A）的標誌性集體舞蹈動作。當年這首歌曲在DISCO的流行程度至今讓人難以忘懷，全場上下整齊一致的動作，將氛圍急速推升至最HIGH點。
這首歌的火熱程度在今天也有表現，第三屆中國好聲音，楊坤翻唱的就是這首歌；《匆匆那年》電影高中畢業聚會趙燁唱的歌曲；美國達人秀 第十一季第五場。
一首歌曲不僅跨越了國際，種族、時間，經久不衰，為人性的解放和融合與進步可謂做出了不小的貢獻。
