周宏灝長期從事遺傳藥理學和藥物基因組學的教學、研究和轉化。發現和闡明了遺傳因素引起藥物種族和個體差異的若干現象和機制及其規律,建立了有國家和民族特色的遺傳藥理學理論體系。周宏灝教授在New England Journal of Medicine等國際SCI期刊上發表300餘篇論文,出版了《遺傳藥理學》中、英文專著和研究生教材5部、高等醫藥院校五年制和八年制《藥理學》中、英文教材6部。
