吉里巴斯語(英語:Kiribati / 吉里巴斯語:taetae ni Kiribati)是南島語系密克羅尼西亞語族的一種語言,全世界大概有7萬多使用者,其適用地區有吉里巴斯、諾魯、索羅門群島、吐瓦魯和萬那杜。

吉里巴斯語的發展
在吉里巴斯獨立之前,吉里巴斯被稱為“吉爾伯特群島”是英國的保護地。1788年,這個群島以其發現者托馬斯·吉爾伯特(Thomas Gilbert)船長而命名
吉里巴斯語的拼寫系統出現在19世紀中葉,新教傳教士用其向居民宣傳教義 。同時,其他傳教士也設計了不同的拼寫系統。
20世紀70年代,獨立後的吉里巴斯政府開始講吉里巴斯語的拼寫及發音標準化,並隨後出版了吉里巴斯語字典,這些都推進了吉里巴斯語文學的發展。
