近日，京城好友曲永建先生來訪，告知其大作《北京出土瓷片斷代與鑑賞》即將由文物出版社出版，交請我為之作序。鑒於我對曲永建先生的了解，遂欣然應允。
改革開放以來，隨著我國經濟的持續高速發展和人民物質生活水平的不斷提高，愈來愈多的人開始追求高雅的精神生活享受，民間文物收藏蔚然成風。在各類文物中，中國古陶瓷以其數量大、各時代都不乏名窯產品而備受人們關注，但由於完整器數量有限，致使市場價格不斷攀升，經濟實力不太強的人只能望塵莫及。在整器難求甚至不敢求的情況下，有人遂將目光轉向陶瓷殘片。因此，在全國各地悄然興起了一大批專門收藏古陶瓷殘片的所謂“瓷片一族”，曲永建先生堪稱其中的佼佼者。
有人可能會問，收藏什麼不好，非要收藏這些被人們當做垃圾扔掉的殘瓷破片。其實，不要小看這些所謂的“垃圾”，其用途可謂非同小可。一般來說，鑑定一件古陶瓷應綜合考慮五個方面的內容：即造型、紋飾、胎釉彩、製作工藝、款識。但要想掌握鑑定古陶瓷這項本領，可不件容易的事，光看書本是不行的，必須經過長期的實踐，尤其是要多看實物真品，最好能上手觀摩。實物真品無非包含兩方面的內容：一是完整器或基本完整的器物，二是殘片標本。
