劉柱東，男，博士，副研究員。 1976年12月生於湖南寧鄉，1999年畢業於湖南農業大學，2004年畢業於中國科學院動物研究所， 獲理學博士學位。

博士畢業後留所工作至今，其中2005年4月至2008年3月，赴德國Max-Planck學會化學生態學研究所從事博士後研究——棉鈴蟲和煙青蟲食性進化。現主要從事昆蟲生理生態、化學生態、及分子生態研究，以農業害蟲棉鈴蟲和煙青蟲為對象比較研究雜食性和寡食性昆蟲對寄主利用的進化；以外來入侵種紅脂大小蠹為對象，研究其行為特性、化學信息及分子調控機制，探討外來種爆發成災機制。目前，在國內外刊物發表論文10多篇，其中第一作者SCI論文8篇。
研究領域
以鈴夜蛾屬昆蟲棉鈴蟲Helicoverpa armigera和煙青蟲害H.assulta, 及森林重要入侵害蟲紅脂大小蠹Dendroctonus valens作為研究模式昆蟲, 深入探討昆蟲與寄主植物的關係。
