標準是人類文明進步的成果，是世界通用的技術語言，促進世界的互聯互通。近年來，中國政府大力開展標準化工作，通過標準驅動創新、合作、綠色、開放的共同發展。在絲綢之路經濟帶與21世紀海上絲綢之路，即“一帶一路”倡議的指引下，為適應日益增長的全球交通運輸發展的需求，增進世界連線，促進知識傳播與經驗分享，中華人民共和國交通運輸部組織編譯並發布了一系列中國公路行業標準外文版。
中華人民共和國交通運輸部發布的公路工程行業標準代號為JTG，體系範圍包括公路工程從規劃建設到養護管理全過程所需要制定的技術、管理與服務標準，也包括相關的安全、環保和經濟方面的評價等標準。
《公路鋼結構橋樑設計規範》（JTGD64）在JTG標準規範體系中占有重要位置。其中文版於2015年修訂並於2015年12月1日實施。本英文版的修訂工作經中華人民共和國交通運輸部委託由人民交通出版社股份有限公司主持完成，並由中華人民共和國交通運輸部公路局組織審定。
《中華人民共和國行業標準（JTG D64-2015E）：公路鋼結構橋樑設計規範（英文版）》的內容與現行中文版一致，如出現異議時，以中文版為準。
