Matisyahu原名Matthew Paul Miller（馬修保羅米勒）（生於1979年6月30日），他希伯萊的名字是Matisyahu。 這成長於紐約的青年，儘管信奉的是猶太教，經常戴著黑帽且蓄著一臉落腮的長鬍，他卻在雷鬼樂歌謠傳統中覓得信仰的真諦。因此他成了世上極少數(若不是唯一)以典型猶太人模樣及身分演唱雷鬼樂的歌手。這樣說來，難免有譁眾取寵之嫌，可他並未將這簡直是行銷利器的特色大作文章而失之淺薄，更多時候他像是背負著使命的傳教士，透過音樂將訊息傳遞出去。因而更難想像他年少時竟是不願從父母之意上希伯來課程，腳汲拖鞋過著嬉皮生活。《Youth》是叛逆的猶太青年Matisyahu（原名叫Matthew Miller）在大公司發行的第一張專輯。Matisyahu曾在2004年和2005年分別發行首張專輯《Shake Off the Dust...Arise》和一張現場專輯《Live at Stubb's》，但都沒得到媒體和歌迷過多地關注，而隨著這張《Youth》的出爐，之前一直默默無聞的Matisyahu一夜之間便創造了歷史。《Youth》在發行後第一周的銷量達到11萬9千張，創紀錄的成為從1991年Nielsen SoundScan專輯銷量統計系統誕生以來發行首周銷量最高的雷鬼樂專輯。這一成績超過了此前進入過Billboard 200專輯榜前十的西恩·保羅（Sean Paul），Snow，Shaggy，UB40組合，達米安·馬萊(Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley）以及大名鼎鼎的鮑勃·馬萊（Bob Marley）等其他雷鬼藝人，而以前的紀錄由Sean Paul去年的專輯《The Trinity》創造
