這首《Forever Friends》的創作陣容十分強大，領銜作曲——義大利著名作曲家莫洛德爾，曾先後創作了1984年洛杉磯奧運會主題曲《Reach Out》、1988年漢城奧運會主題曲《手拉手（Hand in Hand）》和1990年義大利世界盃主題曲《義大利之夏》；詞作者為德國詞作家麥可·昆茨，他也是著名音樂劇《貓》和《歌劇魅影》的詞作者。
據製作人孔祥東介紹，《Forever Friends》音樂電視將於年內製作完成並與廣大觀眾見面，歌曲的中文版也正在緊鑼密鼓的製作之中。
孔祥東：我與莫洛德爾先生(Giorgio Moroder(聽歌))認識差不多是12年前的事了。當時是我的好朋友何建民先生(Thomas Ho)介紹的，那一年是94年我從美國東海岸搬到洛衫機去住，在何建民先生的介紹下認識了這位好萊塢作曲界的大腕，在之後的9年中我們有過許多次合作，對創作或改編古典音樂和流行音樂都有過不同的嘗試。應該講從那時開始我打開了我對多元音樂文化興趣的大門，樂器之王鋼琴不再是“孤獨”的演奏樂器，不同的表現方式會給予聽眾全新的感受，這是跨出傳統保守音樂表現形式的第一步。在這之後才會想起跟我們西藏的民族音樂，還有像西藏的民族樂器——法號所進行對接的一種創作。包括給劉德華(聽歌)創作的那首愛你一萬年的歌曲。
這些年我向莫若德先生學習到許多東西，作為一個從來沒有接受過正規音樂訓練的作曲大師，讓很多音樂界的學院派的人士都跌破眼鏡。他的旋律能夠永恆的在我們的記憶中停留，如《壯志凌雲》(Top Gun)的主題曲《帶走我的呼吸》(Take my breath away)、電影《閃舞》的主題曲等等這些很知名的作品，當然他為世界足球錦標賽所創作的《義大利之夏》震驚了所有喜歡足球和不喜歡足球的喜歡音樂的人們，總之我覺得莫若德先生有一顆具有非凡創造力的童心，也對我們中國的文化非常的熱愛和友善，應該說在我們交往的過程當中，他對事物的好奇心是讓我非常詫異的。同時他對很多事情細緻的觀察所產生的創意，也是讓我感到吃驚的。
通過與莫若德先生的合作，我覺得自己的視野開拓了，聽覺習慣和對音樂的理解都有不同方向的發展。Forever friends的旋律形成於2005年10月，2006年初，第一稿demo基本形成，當我拿著demo趕往美國，看望病重的何建民先生，他聽了以後熱淚盈眶，對於像他這樣的愛國華僑來說，一生的夢想就是希望看見奧運會能夠在中國舉行，奧運的歌聲能在北京響起。雖然他已去世一年多了，但他的名字將永遠保留在主創人員名單中，用這種方式題來紀念這位非常好的大哥和摯友，同時感謝所有為中國成功舉辦奧運付出過努力和心血的愛國人士。如果這首歌能夠有幸成為奧運會主題歌，我將會把我個人的所得捐贈出來以何建民先生的名字成立一個獎學金，來獎勵世界熱愛奧林匹克的人士。
這首樂曲本身有著非常強烈的中國風韻，如果聽過以往三，四屆奧運歌曲的人們都不難發現，就像是我們本次奧運會的會徽一樣，有著不 可磨滅的中國情感和中國的民族特色在內，我特別選取《瀏陽河》這首民歌中的民族旋律融合其中，以中國特有的五聲音階勾畫出中華民族的烙印。雖然旋律適應了國際性，但是它非常的流暢，這就顯示出了莫若德先生的創作功力。在這當中呢我們的磨合非常有意思，改稿了七次，每次都是通過電話，通過Email這樣的一個交流的方式，來把這首曲子的曲風包括各方面的元素定下來。當然這在一般的創作過程當中也屬於很罕見的，這也是我多年和莫若德先生形成的一種默契。能夠參與到當中來體會奧運精神，我覺得這也是我孔祥東的一個幸運。所以我要感謝這樣一個命運的眷顧，也感謝像莫若德先生以及去世的何建民先生這些好朋友，是他們給予我對的人生、對音樂的創作靈感，Forever friends將會把這些朋友永遠留存在我心中。
