法蘭西堡位於西南岸法蘭西堡灣馬當河口，是、主要港口和繁忙的商業中心。人口約10萬。1638年始建，稱羅亞爾堡。1680年成為首府，1681年起成為法屬西印度群島的首府。1890年大火燒毀後重建。主要工業有製糖、釀酒、石油提煉、化肥、加工水果罐頭等。輸出糖、香蕉、鳳梨、可可、咖啡和甜酒等。港灣深入，內寬外窄。有飛機場。法國建有海軍基地。市內有大學、圖書館、博物館等。附近有溫泉。

這家酒莊從2009年起由莫特家族（Mottet)掌有。法蘭西酒莊是優級波爾多產區內的明珠之一，位於Beychac-et-Caillau鎮。整個葡萄園渾然一體，面積為90公頃，其中的72公頃種有紅葡萄酒，5公頃白葡萄。葡萄園中的地形為丘陵及高地，享有一片以粘土及地表礫石為主要構成的豐富土壤。
法蘭西酒莊釀製名酒的願望並不只追溯至昨日，葡萄園中每公頃5000株的種植密度以及堪比列級酒莊的技術設備就是最好的例證。
An estate great name since the XVIIth century.
Chateau la france is one of the largest estates in the Bordeaux region,boasting 90 hectares(222 acres)in a single block. 70 hectares of the 75 under production are classified AOC Bordeaux Superieur rouge (red) and the remaining 5 hectares AOC Bordeaux Blanc Sec(dry white).
Traditional methods are combined with the most up-to-date techniques both in the vineyard and in the cellars, in order to express the very best of our "terroir".
