樂隊成立於1998年，如今仍堅守崗位的原裝成員只剩主唱兼吉他手Toby Martin與鼓手Danny Allen，其他成員來來去去，The Vines貝斯手Patrick Matthews加入後才算底定最後的陣容。

歷史

Youth Group曾在家鄉替The Strokes、Franz Ferdinand暖場，也發行過數張單曲EP，已是頗有知名度的樂隊。
直到2005年終於被Epitaph看中，於北美發行了專輯Skeleton Jar。
主唱Toby Martin的嗓音對於英倫音樂的愛好者應該是一聽就會愛上的迷藥，容易讓人聯想起James與Puressence這兩組樂隊。
Youth Group辛苦掙扎的七年時光里，Toby Martin拿到了博士學位，隨後他繼續共讀著Ph.D. in History。
如不是新專輯發行使他暫緩了學業，他可能成為搖滾史上少數擁有博士學位的主唱之一。 因此不論Youth Group的音樂或Toby Martin的聲音都有種獨特的清新氣質，有時帶點不染塵埃的調調，但大多時候散發著輕鬆的苦澀。
1998年樂隊成立後Toby Martin分別經歷了父親過世、失業、被女友拋棄、團員糾紛這些慘事，可對於他來說，最痛苦的階段往往能創作出最深刻的作品，Youth Group專輯裡那些恬淡悲傷的歌就是這么來的。
Youth Group常被拿來於Death Cab For Cutie比較，團員則喜歡Jesus and Mary Chain的音樂。
雖然與一些Indie Pop樂隊相檔，Youth Group仍缺乏一擊必殺的辨認度，總給人開著拼裝車的感覺；但對於新進樂隊來說我們必須友善地降低門坎，畢竟能把拼裝車開好，也是所有駕駛必須學會的第一件事。
