創作背景
1988年的莉佐出生於美國底特律的一個商人家庭，自幼便表現出對說唱音樂的熱愛和天賦；從12歲那一年起，她便開始學習古典長笛。長大後，她進入美國休斯敦大學進修古典音樂。在大學的期間，她第一次加入了一支真正意義上的樂隊，在前衛搖滾組合Ellypseas中擔任長笛手。她利用白天時間練習古典長笛，晚上則用碧昂絲的B’day專輯學習如何歌唱。在莉佐成名之前，製作人Ricky Reed就認識到她聲音的獨特魅力，並與她合作。2017年，當莉佐在洛杉磯Echoplex表演時，聽眾中恰有一位年輕的流行歌曲創作人Jesse Saint John，被她酷似碧昂絲的表現所震撼；而後製作人Ricky Reed介紹了John與莉佐認識。在幾人的共同合作之下，數周之後，《Truth Hurts》誕生了。
