人物經歷
西南大學心理學部的教授之一，主管西南大學心身醫學和疼痛研究中心。主要研究領域是臨床心理學，精神病理學以及行為醫學。在開始西南大學的工作之前，曾是加拿大註冊臨床心理醫生，並曾在University of Wisconsin（美國）和James Cook University（澳大利亞）都擔任終身教職。
研究教學和臨床
寬泛的講，我的研究興趣主要集中在臨床心理學和健康心理學上。其中一個重要的臨床研究取向關注的是，影響實驗室疼痛和致殘的慢性疼痛的神經、認知和心理因素。研究的具體問題包括（1）理解不同的疼痛信念是如何影響疼痛知覺和身體機能的，（2）釐清疼痛恐懼和迴避的神經認知機制，（3）探索疼痛是如何影響個體與他人的人際互動，以及如何被其影響，（4）開發出有效的心理的疼痛管理干預。我們採用了豐富多樣的研究方法來考察以上問題，包括神經成像技術，誘發反應電位，眼動追蹤，生理監護，基於計算機的語言分析，行為觀察，自我報告問卷測試，元分析，結構化流行病學訪談。
第二個主要研究取向關注的是影響身體不滿意，飲食失調以及肥胖的神經認知，心理社會和社會文化因素。同樣採用上述研究方法考察。除了大量的橫斷研究和實驗研究之外，我們團隊首次在亞洲進行大規模的縱向研究，來辨別影響中國青少年，包括國中、高中、大學樣本的身體意向問題和飲食失調的可靠風險因素。
基於上述研究興趣，我已在SCI、SSCI收錄的期刊，如Journal of Abnormal Psychology, Pain, NeuroImage, The Journal of Pain, Developmental Psychology, Journal of Behavioral Medicine, Behavior Research & Therapy, Journal of Psychosomatic Research, International Journal of Obesity, and Body Image上發表逾80篇同行審閱論文。我們的研究也受到知名國際媒體，如Scientific American's Mind和the New York Times的關注和報導。我以前的學生現如今也在多個享譽盛名的中外機構，如the Mayo Clinic, University of Queensland 和中國科學院擔任重要職務。
