One key task in forensic science is to perform criminal investigation through image database retrieval. Of the various images，tire pattern is an important type of image data for crime scene investigation. Tire pattern image retrieval(TPIR) is an important means in providing useful clues in traffic accidlent control and crime case solving. However, due to the lack of standard dataset，so far there is no much work done in this field. The aim of this book is two-folded:① To summarize the existing techniques in TPIR.② To discuss about TPIR system design focusing on the key techniques including texture feature extraction and high-level semantic learning from tire tread pattern images.
