The Brave Man tells the story of a key confrontation during the Battle of Brooklyn, the first and largest battle fought after the Declaration of Independence until the last at Yorktown. It focuses on General William Alexander, Lord Stirling, a friend of George Washington, and his efforts to save the front lines of the nascent American army as it retreated in the face of overwhelming British power. The film explores the complex roots of Stirling's presence on the battlefield and asks the question, what makes a brave man?
