英國的獨立的流行樂The Beautiful South成立於於1989年,主唱是保羅西頓和鼓手大衛Hemmingway組成了美麗的南部樂隊。樂隊風格：爵士、R&B。歌詞常帶有諷刺,憤世嫉俗。,1994年發表的專輯,取得雙白金銷量成為英國暢銷專輯。在九十年代的英國是相當受歡迎的。
他們曾經風靡英倫長達六年之久，在94年出版的單曲 Carry on Up the Charts, 成為英國唱片界有史以來最為暢銷的唱片。他們的歌屬於比較清新的民謠風格，前後共出了10張專輯。很奇怪他們在英國可謂大紅大紫，在北美卻毫無波瀾，絲毫不像很多英倫樂隊的歷程那般順利。
Dream a little dream這首歌帶有很濃的爵士味道，被很多人翻唱過，包括冰島爵士女歌手Silje Nergaard和挪威女歌手Sissel Kyrkjebo（在Titanic影片中常迴旋的Celtic吟唱的演唱者）。
