T-90防空坦克是一款防空坦克，第一個具體的設計在1942年，採用T-60偵察坦克的底盤，使用的雙聯裝12.7mm口徑DshK重機槍，光學瞄準裝置。二戰初期，蘇聯缺少自行防空火炮，T-90防空坦克由此誕生。

二戰初期，蘇聯缺少自行防空火炮。第一個具體的設計在1942年，採用T-60偵查坦克的底盤，使用的雙聯裝12.7mm口徑DshK重機槍，光學瞄準裝置。
與此同時蘇聯軍隊認為當時蘇聯軍隊的輕型坦克已經很不適合當時的戰局，不能像T-34坦克那樣發揮巨大的作用，裝甲薄弱，火力很弱，越野能力也比較差。但是輕型坦克製造簡單，不需要很多複雜的大型設備，不巧的是T-60有很多缺點，而當時的T-50輕型坦克又太過於昂貴、複雜，於是T-70輕型坦克就被研製了。
然後因為T-70坦克的投產，防空坦克就採用了T-70的底盤。後來因為軍方更傾向於ZSU-37自行防空炮。ZSU-37自行防空炮採用了SU-76的底盤，當然SU-76的底盤是也是用T-70輕型坦克底盤改造的。另外ZSU-37採用了M1939 61K 37mm防空炮改造的火炮，比T-90的雙聯裝的DshK更有威力，所以T-90的計畫就被終止了。
