ATI PowerPlay™ technology was first introduced in ATI Mobility Radeon™ notebook GPUs for on-the-go consumers using their notebooks more with demanding applications and software. Now this power management technology has been built into the ATI Radeon™ HD 3800 Series – the first time such power savings technology has been used on an AMD desktop graphics processor. This exciting break-through technology delivers further on AMD’s commitment to reducing the energy consumption in computing technologies.
ATI PowerPlay™ technology is designed to enable power saving profiles that help reduce power consumption when the GPU is idle or in minimal use in comparison to previous AMD products. This dynamic power management enables the GPU to automatically adjust power between low, medium and high states for a tremendous power efficiency advantage. For example, when receiving and composing emails little demand is on the GPU and it runs in a low state, whereas when gaming, there is high demand on the graphics engine and the GPU runs in a high state.
Since the GPU consumes less power it also produces less heat ultimately contributing to reduced system temperatures and fan noise delivering consistent performance levels for a seamless user experience.

ATI PowerPlay技術最早套用於ATI的板載圖形晶片中,後來隨著桌面圖形卡在發熱量上的急劇增加,PowerPlay添加到桌面型的圖形卡產品中。桌面版的PowerPlay技術可以自動判斷顯示卡的負載,共分為待機模式、2D模式、影院模式、3D模式等幾個套用狀況,動態調整圖形核心和顯存的電壓及工作頻率,達到節能降噪的目的。
主打曲 《Powerplay》這個原本因契約而分裂的電子音樂代號人物 A. Mega 和 B. Byte 後來再組成的歐洲音樂團體,在1987年結合成神秘的 Megabyte 並首次發布專輯,仍然以高度迷幻的科技合成製造震撼的空間音色。受前輩 Klaus Schulze(也是 Megabyte 專輯發行的東家老闆之一)和 Tangrine Dream 的影響,使用多分層合成器和木吉他混合了激盪人心的打擊節奏創作出具有動態舞感具有幻想色彩的電子音景模型,作為主打曲目的《Powerplay》大膽的嘗試聲音實驗拼貼混合,Megabyte 的音樂顯得刺激且具有多面性,充滿幻覺色彩聲音的探索勾勒出使聽者進入寬廣的音域世界。
