創作背景
《Paint The Town Red》由製作人Earl On The Beat擔任製作，同時採樣了狄昂·華薇克發行於1964年的爵士舞曲《Walk On By》。Doja Cat通過該曲回顧了自己過去時間段“回歸自我”的歷程，還提到了光頭無眉造型等被大眾難以接受並認為脫序的行為，她覺得這些各式各樣的行徑都是她體現並認同自我價值的表現。Doja Cat本不打算將該曲收錄進《Scarlet》中，是在團隊的極力挽回下，最終才決定保留。此外，為了該曲的宣傳，她還特地將自己過往的音樂專輯、MV的封面都加上了一層紅色濾鏡。
