Joan Osborne 瓊安 奧斯朋
1963年7月8日出生於阿拉斯加南部的安克雷奇。90年代早期來到紐約，就讀於紐約大學電影學院。一個偶然的機會瓊在當地一家小酒吧中演唱了爵士歌后比莉-郝樂迪的名曲“上帝保佑孩子”，自此人生的軌跡完全被改變。她開始從事音樂事業，模仿自己所喜歡的埃特-詹姆斯以及蕾-查爾斯等人進行表演。
最初奧斯本不願受大唱片公司的擺布，自己成立了廠牌“女性歡呼”(Womanly Hips)，並推出《靈魂展示》(Soul Show)這樣一張唱片，還與其他藝人一起舉辦音樂會。1995年，她終於認識到商業合作的重要性，就與Mercury公司簽約，第二張《意味》(Relish)由此發行。經過將近一年時間的等待，公眾發覺了這張專輯的價值，單曲《我們中的一個》(One Of Us)成為排行榜首，並使她在1996和1997年獲得諸多葛萊美獎提名。
創作背景
女歌手Joan Osborne經由水星公司推出了自己的首張專輯《Relish》，其中的單曲"One of Us"不僅傳遍全球也為她贏得了歌迷的喜愛。同時這張布魯斯風格的專輯還給她帶來了五項葛萊美獎提名，其中最佳新人的提名具有格外重大的意義。
此後的兩年中，Osborne為推廣《Relish》而走遍世界，其間她也經歷了"One of Us"和"St. Teresa"所帶來的宗教糾紛。一切結束後，Osborne再次重返錄音棚開始製作下張專輯《Righteous Love》，由於沒有唱片公司的資助，她自掏腰包創作並錄製新歌，也正是因為這個原因，新專輯包含了從東方風情、宗教風格到純粹的布魯斯等眾多音樂形式
